So.. listening to you as readers, a commonly question which gets asked to me is ‘how do you do your make up or what the name of that make up artist?’ Depending on the work, most of the shoots I attend in fact I am my own make up artist which I throw on roughly about an hour before starting a set. Compared to professional make up artists I own very little cosmetics, as a result I thought I’d share what I use and own on my face.

Even though each shoot I do looks completely different to the last, I use exactly the same make up products but too different techniques, this is where you see the difference. I love the products I use as they last throughout long days and stay bold not only this but the quality of them is amazing.

I use the same products on my face on each shoot. I will simply take you through the steps on how I apply. Firstly with your fresh face always start with a good moisturiser. Personally my skin can get very dry so I consistently need this before starting  to apply my make up. I use Body Shops, Sea Weed products both day and night cream. I ensure I do this when I wake up and before bed, it’s extremely light and feels just like wetting your face. Very refreshing and it smells great. I will always be a fan of Body Shop as the products are organic and not tested on animals. You’ll find this product in any Body Shop store UK if not check online..

Afterwards the routine is that I will start on the skin, I do not normally apply hardly any foundation or concealer in less of emergencies, if you are a skin product applier. I recommend that you are too use equal amounts of foundation on your face.. measure this by making dots with you’re cream, three under your eye, three above your cheekbones and two lining your, forehead, nose and chin. This ensures you have applied an equal amount. One essential thing you SHOULD do is smooth this into your skin using a foundation brush. Using your fingers will only make your skin patchy.

Also by applying your foundation in this technique you are highlighting key, flattering areas of your face. This will highlight your cheekbones and make them more prominent. Below are the products I use. All of my main products are Clinique, I use this brand as I know all products are not tested on animals and are extremely healthy for your skin.

Brush, Mascara, foundation, eye cream & eye shadow.

If you are simular to me, you’ll experience a little thing called baggy eyes from tiredness (whether that’s from all night blogging or partying)I need a little help to cover this up for events or school, I use Clinique’s eye cover up. This is the forth item on in the image above. It’s extremely light and refreshing to apply, due to the packaging it remains cold in the summer months too. This gives a nice glow under the eyes, too give you a more awake look. I highly recommend this product too. Another quick tip is when enhancing your cheek bones, it is worth investing in some  bronzing rocks. A little bit more pricey but certainly worth it.

Moving onto eyes! Before applying Cliniques Mascara, I always apply eye liner with a cat eye flick, this lengthens and widens my eyes. This also gives a great retro feel to outfits and makes the colour pop of your eye. If you are like me and have blue eyes, try out some blue eye liner: this gives your eye a ‘poping’ colour effect and adds fun when wearing a causal black dress or dull outfit. I ADORE Alexa Chung Eyeko eye liner.. it’s long lasting and the tip of the brush is very thin, creating great control when applying.

All photographs on this post, I have used my own make up and applied myself. This proves that you can only own a few products and create a variety of different looks. Eye shadow is a key essential which when on creates a new look for your outfit. The last item on my make up image is my Clinique Natural Eye shadow collection. The bonus with using natural shades is that, you can apply this and not fret with looking clown like. It’s adds a natural effect, this personally is the best look.
